Registration

Every Moroccan National, who resides in South Africa, Eswatini, Malawi and Botswana, MUST be registered at the Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco in Pretoria to renew her/his passport.

To register, please bring the following documents :

  • A copy of the first six (6) pages of your passport, in addition to your country's visa.
  • A copy of the front and back of your national identity card (Carte d'Identité Nationale).
  • A copy of your residence permit, or any equivalent document.
  • A letter of enrollment from your university or employment verification from your employer.
  • Two (2) passport photos. Please attach one to the form. (Please write your full name & your national identity card's number on the back of the pictures)

Please note that registration with this Consulate General is mandatory prior to any consular service.


National ID Card

To renew your CNIE, to get a duplicate CNIE (in case your card has been lost or stolen), or if you are applying for a cnie for the very first time (at age 12), your presence at the Embassy of the kingdom of morocco is mandatory for a new set of fingerprints.

Please bring the following documents :

  • Your expired "Carte d'Identite Nationale"
  • A copy of the first 3 pages of your passport
  • An original birth certificate, issued within the last 6 months
  • An original family book may replace an original birth certificate only in case it is filled out in both Arabic and French
  • (04) Four pictures

Biometric passports

Guidelines for the issuance of Biometric passports:

All Moroccan nationals, regardless of their age, are entitled to a biometric passport, unless prohibited by a Moroccan court decision.

The biometric passport is issued upon the request of either:

  • An adult applicant
  • A legal guardian of a minor
  • A legal representative of an adult placed under guardianship
  • Adult applicants must provide a copy of the CNIE (carte nationale d'identité éléctronique).

Since minor applicants between the ages of 12 and 18 are not entitled to a CNIE (carte nationale d'identité éléctronique), their presence at this Consulate General is mandatory. They must also provide an original birth certificate (can only be obtained from the birth place) issued within the last three months by the Bureau of Vital Records in the birth place.

Requirements for adults, in possession of a valid CNIE, applying for a Biometric Passport:

  • A duly filled out, dated & signed application forms (Download the form here)
  • A copy of the applicant's valid CNIE (carte nationale d'identité éléctronique).
  • Two identical recent passport photos, on blue or light gray background, 35mm by 45mm, clearly showing the applicant's face and all of its features
  • A money order in the amount of 66.80US dollars/ cash and personal checks are not accepted.
  • The original passport.
  • A duly signed affidavit, in case it is a lost or stolen passport
  • A prepaid stamped Express Mail or Priority Mail Envelope for the return of the passport.
  • The processing time of a biometric passport is two to four weeks.

Requirements for minors between the ages of 12 and 18, applying for a Biometric Passport:

  • The presence of Minors between the ages of 12 and 18 at this Consulate General is mandatory, in order to get the first set of fingerprints.
  • An application form duly filled out, dated & signed by the applicant's legal guardian
  • An original birth certificate (can only be obtained from the birth place) issued within the last three months by - the Bureau of Vital Records in the birth place
  • Written proof of the capacity and the relationship of the legal guardian in case the applicant is a minor and the legal representative in case the applicant is an adult placed under guardianship.
  • A copy of the CNIE (carte nationale d'identité éléctronique) application receipt issued by a consular officer
  • Two identical recent passport photos, on blue or light gray background, 35mm by 45mm, clearly showing the applicant's face and all of its features
  • No stamp fees for minors.
  • The expired passport, in case it is a renewal application
  • A duly signed affidavit, in case it is a lost or stolen passport
  • A prepaid stamped Express Mail or Priority Mail Envelope for the return of the passport
  • Either an authorization (download here) duly signed by each parent or legal guardian then notarized before a notary public or the presence of the minor applicant's parents or legal guardian, in case he or she is applying in person.

Requirements for Minors under 12 applying for a Biometric passport:

  • An application form duly filled out, dated & signed by the applicant's legal guardian
  • An original birth certificate (can only be obtained from the birth place) or a copie intégrale du registre de l'Etat Civil issued within the last three months by the Bureau of Vital Records in the birth place
  • A copy of the applicant's registration card
  • Written proof of the capacity and the relationship of the legal guardian in case the applicant is a minor and the legal representative in case the applicant is an adult placed under guardianship
  • Two identical recent passport photos, on blue or light gray background, 35mm by 45mm, clearly showing the applicant's face and all of its features
  • The expired passport, in case it is a renewal application
  • A duly signed affidavit, in case it is a lost or stolen passport
  • A prepaid stamped Express Mail or Priority Mail Envelope for the return of the passport
  • Either an authorization duly signed by each parent or legal guardian then notarized before a notary public or the presence of the minor applicant's parents or legal guardian, in case he or she is applying in person.

Laissez passer

The laissez passer is a short travel document, valid for no more than one month.

It is issued, exceptionally, to a person who does not have a valid passport or has lost his passport, to enable him to return to Morocco.

The Moroccan identity and nationality of the person concerned must be previously verified and proven

The pass is valid for one way (a return to Morocco).

If the person concerned possesses a passport whose validity has expired, the said passport is presented to the consular service for its cancellation before the issue of the laissez-passer.

Documents required :

  • Any document (original) likely to prove Moroccan nationality (CNIE or old passport);
  • For minors (under 18 years old who do not have CNIE), a birth certificate, an individual civil status card or the family record book and the presence of the legal representative with a piece of identification and a residence permit;
  • 2 identity photos in color on a white background (4 x 3 cm);
  • Declaration of loss or theft of the passport, if applicable.

Procedure :

In the absence of documents proving the Moroccan nationality of the person concerned, a fingerprint survey carried out by the consular services or the local police, is transmitted, accompanied by a fact sheet with photo, to the Moroccan authorities competent for identification.


Mariage

Please be advised that the Molhak or Ishhad is not a marriage certificate but a document issued by the Consular section, to be later submitted to either the First Instance Moroccan Court or the Moroccan Family Court in order to get approval of a non-Moroccan civil marriage.

MOLHAK/ISHHAD/Marriage VALIDATION REQUIREMENTS :

  • A completed and duly signed Fiche de Renseignements Individuelle filled out by both husband and wife.
  • A copy of the Moroccan ID (Carte d'Identité Nationale), a copy of the Moroccan passport of both husband and wife.
  • Two affidavits stating that one partner is still married to the other, one signed by husband download here and one signed by wife.
  • In case the spouse is not Moroccan, a copy of her passport
  • Original birth certificates of both husband and wife
  • A Money Order of $18 (for Moroccan citizens an additional $15 for registration/Carte Consulaire + 2 photos)
  • An original marriage certificate issued by an American court
  • A Prepaid Envelope for the return of the marriage validation as well as the marriage certificate(s)
  • A completed Affidavit signed by two male witnesses, then notarized before a notary public download here in Arabic or here in English
  • Copies of the Moroccan IDs (CIN or CNIE) of both witnesses
  • Kid(s)’ copy of Birth(s) Certificate(s)

Please note that all Affidavits (4) must be notarized either before a notary public or at the Consular section
