The Pan-African Parliament (PAP), which sits in South Africa, welcomed, on the 20th of April 2020, the initiative of His Majesty King Mohammed VI to face the coronavirus pandemic in Africa.
The PAP "wishes to salute His Majesty King Mohammed VI for his willingness to share knowledge and technology with the rest of the continent," the continental legislative body pointed out in a release.
The international health crisis caused by the novel coronavirus is extraordinarily overwhelming, it said, adding that African countries have mobilized to face and win this unprecedented health war as a collective.
Pan-African parliamentarians join the leaders of the African continent in this tireless fight against this devastating pandemic, it pointed out.
These actions will undoubtedly allow the continent to share experiences and good practices which will facilitate a unified health, economic and social impact, it added.
His Majesty the King has had telephone conversations with the President of the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire and the President of the Republic of Senegal.
During the discussions, the Sovereign proposed the launch of an initiative of African Heads of State aimed at establishing an operational framework to accompany African countries in the various phases of the management of the pandemic.
