Morocco's Democratic Commitment Has Conditioned its Response to Covid-19 Pandemic

Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, stressed, on the 26th of June 2020, that the Kingdom's democratic commitment has conditioned its response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

"Under the Leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Morocco's democratic choice is irreversible," Bourita noted in a speech during his participation in the celebrations of the 20th anniversary of the "Warsaw Declaration", adding that "all measures taken have been, first and foremost, focused on the absolute priority given to the citizen and his security, over all other considerations".

These measures, he added, were taken with "rigor" and "promptness", but also in a "consultative and participatory" spirit, noting that "this is the spirit of the 2011 Constitution, which is the most accomplished expression of the Kingdom's democratic choice".

As for the Kingdom's participation in the celebration, Mr. Bourita stressed that it is a natural extension of Morocco's commitment to democracy and reflects its attachment to good governance.

"Morocco has always been faithful to its democratic identity, in all areas - be they migratory, religious or social," he pointed out.
