The acting UN envoy to Libya, Stephanie Williams, supported and praised the efforts of the inter-Libyan dialogue in Bouznika, Morocco, to contribute to the success of the UN-led process aimed at finding a solution to the Libyan crisis.

Ms. Williams described her visit to Morocco at the end of August as "very good", noting that she is in permanent contact with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Residing Abroad, Mr. Nasser Bourita, and other Moroccan government officials.

Referring to the continuation of this dialogue, the UN official stressed that discussions have mainly focused on Article 15 of the Libyan political agreement, relating to positions of sovereignty, such as the Central Bank, the head of the Anti-Corruption Commission, the President of the High Electoral Commission, the Prosecutor General and the President of the Council of the Judiciary.

She recalled that the talks in Bouznika between the delegations from the Libyan High State Council and the Tobruk Parliament focused mainly on the skills required for appointment to these positions and that the discussions should not mention specific names, noting that recommendations will then be submitted to the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum for consideration.

"From what I understand from my discussions with Moroccan officials, there is a willingness to bring together the presidents of the Libyan High State Council Khaled Al Mechri and the House of Representatives Aguila Saleh, to jointly approve and sign the agreement reached between the two delegations," Williams said, expressing her "support for this initiative and for all efforts to ensure the success of the UN-led process for the benefit of both Libyan parties.
