Moroccan Ambassador to South Africa, Youssef Amrani, received on Wednesday at the Residence of the Kingdom in Pretoria, the new interim President of the Pan-African Parliament, Zimbabwean Fortune Charumbira, and the Secretary-General Vipya Harawa, who will visit Morocco on Thursday to attend a meeting of the African Confederation of Football (CAF).
The two parties focused on the future of the Pan-African parliamentary institution in the light of major changes, which occurred recently in the system of the Pan-African Parliament, said the embassy in a statement.
On this occasion, Charumbira highlighted the latest developments in the institution and his future vision for the body during his term as an interim president.
The Ambassador noted the importance the Kingdom attaches to any institution of the African Union, notably the Pan-African Parliament, which promotes the unity of Africa on the back of its transparent approaches, lucid action and sincere commitments.
In accordance with the vision and action of HM King Mohammed VI, "Morocco has a full, continuous and unwavering commitment to promoting democratic dialogue, solidarity, sharing and openness at an African level, notably the African Union and its various institutional instruments,'' the diplomat stressed.
On the sidelines of his visit to Morocco, Charumbira will meet with various senior Moroccan officials, namely the speaker of the House of Representatives Habib El Malki.
